Modern facilities and faculty interchange with major US schools positions this school to play a major part in management development and research in China, Hong Kong and environs.
The following information is provided direct from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology: MISSION The School of Business and Management (SBM) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has been established to provide world class management education. Its mission is to prepare students to become managers and business leaders who will actively contribute to the economic and social development of Hong Kong and its region. DEVELOPMENT At its inception in 1991, the School formed a strategic partnership with the Anderson Graduate School of Management of the University of California, Los Angeles. The top ranking Anderson School provided critical assistance to the School in its early stage of development. Today, the SBM boasts a faculty of 153 scholars drawn from the world's leading business schools and plans to reach its steady-state size of about 165 by 1997/98. Top-notch business academics, young and seasoned, have converged in this fast growing centre of business research and teaching to share and contribute to the School's mission and vision. PROGRAMMES The School places strong emphasis on quality research and teaching. Our programmes, designed with both an international perspective and a keen focus on the Asia-Pacific region, have attracted top business students from Hong Kong and other countries worldwide. The School has six departments namely Accounting; Economics; Finance; Information and Systems Management; Management of Organizations; and Marketing, each offers degrees from the bachelor's, master's and up to the doctoral degrees. A partnership is being made with the Kellogg School of the Northwestern University to offer an Executive MBA programme in early 1998. As one of the many ways to help business and industries in Hong Kong and her neighouring region to be at the leading edge of management practice, the School also offers selective non-degree executive and professional programmes to corporate executives and professionals.
