IMD's latest competitiveness survey shows movement in the ranks

The Australian Financial Review is cock-a-hoop with Australia's rise in their ranking in IMD's latest Competitiveness survey. Australia rose from 21st to 17th. Other substantive movements are Malaysia's move from 23rd to 16th, and Japan's equally dramatic 4 to 11 plunge and South Korea's 27 to 31. Old reliables the US and Singapore top the rankings as last year and Northern European economies improved their ratings using the Anglo Saxon model.
