The Sadness of Japan - (Economist)

This week's cover of 'The Economist' depicts a sad looking Japanese manequin with an interesting spin on the Japanese economy.

The left leaning English-based magazine focuses in this article, legitimately, on the ability of the Japanese political-industrial-economic complex to change at any speed close to necessary to forestall a collapse.

The Sadness of Japan article states: the only debate concerns how long and deep its recession will be. The charitable consider Japan an irrelevance. The less charitable see it as a liability. The panicky see it as a danger. Most Japanese simply shrug their shoulders.

Things may well be on the move however. Word is out that a substantive, if only initial, breakthough is on the cards right now. A two day Japan stock market revival is also suggesting that someone may just have bitten the bullet.
