Blogs are personal diaries kept publically and electronically on a website for all. Modest as we are, we claim our own Blanchard's Oriental Travel Journal as the first Asian based "blogger" on the Net, starting way back in 1996 in gorgeous battle-ship grey (and disappearing 2 years later). Then again Blanchard sent his stuff in written on stained hawker centre serviettes via snail mail. This much more modern "blog" from Hong Kong is a great read for all wanting to learn more about Hong Kong - and he has pictures...

Subtitled "...adventures of a big white guy living in hong kong" - and sometimes (depending on which time you load the page) - ".. i'm too sexy for hong kong, beijing and mah jong..." this is a masterfully written "blog". Mr Vander Woning is a crack photographer as well, and conveys the feel of living in Hong Kong - especially for big white guys...

Try also his Project Chopsticks, where you can send in photos of your chopsticks. Do your chopsticks reflect your personality? Maybe - on the basis of the contributions already there...

We will be featuring other Asian based "blogs" in future, and maybe even listing them on the side of the Hari Ini home page. Its a different way to get a feel for a place and a welcome diversion from those government travel tourist sites.

Now at last we know what Andy Warhol meant by saying that "everybody will have their own 15 minutes of fame" Call it 15 megabytes and now it all makes sense...
