Krugman Kronicles

Krugman Kronicles

Paul Krugman's always challenging economic analyses have been featured on the Rat's column, in this and previous incarnations, regularly.

He is one of the few US academic economists to focus seriously on the Asian region, and to make his material accesable to the common rat like me..

You can see his material on many mainstream news sources and those dusty academic journals that cost an arm and a leg but display no evidence of ever actually being read.

But readers should find some nuggets of his advice and non-mainstream comments in two sites. Try The new Paul Krugman web page, and the Unoffical Paul Krugman Archive.

Most interesting at the present is the attack from gay US conservative Roman Catholic columnist Andrew Sullivan.

Despite a love-hate affair with Asian politicians, notably Malaysian PM Mahathir, his analyses have stood the test of time, and when he's wrong, he admits it...

See for example his analyses on the Japanese economy and post-hoc reflections on the Asian crisis.
