Each entry contains evaluative and descriptive annotations. There are numerous Web sites and resources on how to do business internationally and some of them are shallow if not misleading. The author has examined many resources prior to making a decision for inclusion in this bibliography. Entries are from sources such as the United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Commerce Web sites, as well as reference sources, books, government documents, international etiquette, legal requirements, trade regulations, and other Web sites. The purpose is to increase awareness of quality resources. This guide will help reference librarians to better serve their patrons on international matters.

Immigration: an overview of information resources Immigration has been a subject of intense historical and contemporary debate in US political life. Proponents of immigration cite the important contributions immigrants have made and continue to make to the USA's national development and evolution. Advocates of more restrictive immigration policies stress concerns over the USA's ability to support immigrant residents and whether newer immigrants threaten the US national identity and social cohesion. Proponents and opponents of current US immigration policy will use figures from the 2000 census to justify their respective arguments in upcoming debates on this subject. New form(at): using the Web to teach research and critical thinking skills States that at Colorado State University, the library liaison works with the director of the first-year composition program to design Web pages for courses. Updated annually, program assignments include a "library research" overview, created by the librarian, that identifies catalogs and indexes, along with suggested terms to search the sources. Research strategies and assistance pages describe how to use sources generally guiding the students to teach themselves to evaluate and analyze books, articles, and Web pages for validity and usefulness. Additionally, there are interactive exercises for basic skills. By using the Web to distribute this information, library assistance is available when it is needed - anywhere on campus, or remotely from off-campus. Library evaluation includes an analysis of "hits" to each page, and reflects feedback gathered from an evaluation form completed by the instructors.

Through the Web: door to academic libraries The Web sites of 125 academic libraries were searched during the summer of 1999 to find information about the libraries. These sites were accessed from their respective research universities, with the finding that it is often difficult to locate the library from the university home page. Information that is essential on any library Web site includes postal addresses with zip codes, names of directors with e-mail addresses, phone numbers with area codes and a Webmaster e-mail contact when this information is not readily available. It was found that academic library sites are often confusing and difficult to navigate when seeking information about the library itself. Factual information should be provided in a logical, organized manner, with easy navigation and predictive headings.

Librarians in particular have helped to protect this important right by ensuring that all citizens have access to whatever information they need. In her introductory article, Hannelore B. Rader enumerates the many examples of people in other countries who have not had or do not have access to all types of information. A good example is the former German Democratic Republic and the Berlin Wall. There are also examples in the USA where groups of people or individuals have tried and still try to censor information and to limit access to information. In the present electronic environment, intellectual freedom has become an even more complex issue by allowing individuals a forum to easily state their opinions, whether truth or propaganda. Librarians are experiencing a growth in "banned books" and controversies surrounding filtering software in public libraries. However, the ultimate question remains: should intellectual freedom be restricted? Contains an extensive bibliography of intellectual freedom resources compiled and annotated by Terri L. Holtze.

Having heard much about CSR in the past, the authors were under the impression that it had taken hold as a movement and more and more corporations were leaning toward ethical business practices and social responsibility. Media attention on the shocking revelations of the tobacco industry stimulated their interest in investigating this impression. Their research indicates that, although some corporations are still practicing unethical behavior, many more indicated that they have a social responsibility to their stakeholders.
