Note on Sources, Attribution, and Accuracy
In compiling information and doing research for this column, I am somewhat compulsive. Being aware that there is very little that is new in this world, I believe that the essence of creativity lies in creating fresh juxtapositions of ideas and finding new ways of thinking about things. In trying to accomplish this, I rely on numerous sources for inspiration, historical and sociocultural information, interpretation, and context. I make a good faith attempt to "fact check" my writing and rely on close Filipino friends and family to review material for accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and linguistic usages. As mentioned elsewhere, please let me know if you spot any inaccuracies, misuages, or unfounded or downright wrong conclusions or speculation. In addition to personal contacts, internet correspondence and research, careful observation wherever I go around Manila, inquisitiveness, and speculation, a partial list of sources follows. I have not included various travel guidebooks, Tagalog texts, or tourist/entertainment sources. I will update this list from time to time as useful new sources come to my attention.
